Egypt is the perfect destination for a once in a lifetime adventure. From its rich history, to its diverse culture and iconic landmarks, the country will leave you in awe. Luxor, Aswan, Cairo, and Alexandria are all must-see cities, and no trip to Egypt is complete without a cruise down the Nile.
Luxor is a city steeped in history, complete with an expansive collection of temples and tombs, which are some of the best-preserved ancient structures in the world.
Formerly Egypt’s capital city during the New Kingdom, Luxor contains some of the most well-known Egyptian monuments. Here you’ll find incredible sights like the Temples of Karnak and Luxor, and the Valleys of the Kings and Queens.
The Nile River and city of Aswan are intertwined, giving Aswan a unique charm and beauty.
While the Nile flows through the majority of Egypt’s major cities, it has a special magic in Aswan. Many of Aswan’s landmarks are primarily accessible by boat. A a boat ride along the river is one of the best ways to take in the scenery. Aswan is home to landmarks, such as the Philae Temple, Nubian Village, and Unfinished Obelisk, and is the closest major city to Abu Simbel.
A Nile cruise is an unforgettable way to see Egypt and enjoy stunning views of the landscape.
There is nothing like floating down the Nile River taking in the palm trees, farmland, ancient temples, and quaint villages that dot the riverbanks. Cruises are excellent ways to see some of the more remote sights. Some of my favorites include the Temple of Horus at Edfu, Gebel Silsila, the Temple of Horemheb, and Kom Ombu.
Cairo and the pyramids are huge bucket list destinations, and can’t be missed on a trip to Egypt!
The Great Pyramid more than lives up to its name! I was unprepared for how small I felt standing next to it. Although smaller, it’s also very worth taking time to see the first pyramids in Egypt at Saqqara. It’s hard not to be in awe of the humans who stood in those same places thousands of years ago!
